Grain boundaries and interfaces:
structure, thermodynamics and diffusion properties (SS3)

In framework of this special session the problems concerning structure, thermodynamics and diffusion properties of grain boundaries and interfaces in various materials including nanocrystalline and nanostructured materials will be considered. The program of the special session will involve both theoretical and experimental presentations.

Topics of the Session:
  • Structure and physical properties of grain boundaries.
  • Grain-boundary diffusion.
  • Thermodynamics of grain boundaries and interfaces.
  • Phase transformations in grain boundaries.
  • Peculiarities of grain-boundary structure and grain-boundary diffusion in nanocrystalline and nanostructured materials
  • Simulation of grain-boundary structure and grain-boundary diffusion
