The special session ‘Microstructural Development of Metallic Materials through Diffusion Controlled Processes’ covers advanced aspects concerning the characterization, development and production of new grades of metallic materials. Special attention is dedicated to processes involving diffusion in liquid-solid and in solid-solid systems, such as solidification, phase transformations and thermal treatments…Particular emphasis is given to diffusional processes related to steel production, because of the everlasting importance of this metallic material in worldwide production.
Topics of the Session:
- Casting and solidification processes.
- Hot dipping processes such as: aluminizing, galvanizing (continuous galvanizing,
electro-galvanizing, hot-dip galvanizing).
- Mechanical and chemical characterization of coatings grown by diffusion.
- Thermal treatment and effect on deformation behavior.
- Steel and diffusion processes modifying its microstructure.
- Microstructural characterization of intermetallic compounds and intermediate phases in layers
- Specialized characterization techniques as: SEM, XRD, EBSD and TEM, used on
metallic materials after diffusion processes
